Blog #5: Swatchey Schemey

 Introduction

Throughout all the time I have had to come up with an idea for my brochure, I have decided to do my brochure on housing tiers at High Point University. I plan to have each side of my brochure be a different housing tier, listing all the amenities you get, the cost, the living space, and the residents that are also in your room. I have a lot of knowledge on the housing system at High Point, being a rising Senior. I would like to add a multitude of building that match each tier, along with a smooth purple color scheme, stay tuned.

My Photo of Inspiration

This past week I have been significantly busy with preparation with interviews coming up, and end of the year school-work. I have been doing most of my preparation and study time in Cottrell. During one of my instances finding a room in Cottrell this past week, I saw an image and color scheme the caught my eye. The image of several countries filled with colors. This instant caught my eye, and I just knew I had to capture this moment and pursue it in this blog post, check it out!

Swatches

When it came to creating the swatches, I choose the obvious three colors that stood out to me most within the image. I selected yellow, red, and green. Through the help of Adobe, I learned how to "create  color tints and Global colors that help you to edit, reuse, and share Clorox more expertly" (Adobe Help, 2018). To create the swatches, I had to open the swatches window. From that point, I selected the "hamburger bun" that I learned in class, and selected the "new color swatch" option, and began to choose colors that went along with my inspiring image.

Below, you can visualize the panel of all the colors that I used to create my swatch, along with my finish product of my swatch! Each color is present, and has a lighter gradient from left to right.

Name Tags

After I had created my swatches, I moved towards making matching name tags towards my inspiring photo. This part of the assignment took the most time in terms of selecting the proper colors for each background, headline, and sub-heading. I had to play around with all the text, balanced with the colors selected to make it look aesthetically pleasing towards the eye. The first name tag that was made is my favorite one. With the first one, all the colors bounce off of each other perfectly, and make it enjoyable sight. It looks professional and well down with the colors selected. I learned a grand about of information towards this assignment, and I was glad to be able to implement it into my own work. I a looking forward to creating my brochure!
